Exclusive Video Interview With Pierre Morel On The Gunman

This article is over 9 years old and may contain outdated information

The Gunman is the latest film from Pierre Morel, the same director who turned Liam Neeson into an action star in Taken and who helmed the parkour masterpiece District B13. It stars Sean Penn as Jim Terrier, an international operative who thinks he has long since put his days as a sniper behind him and is more than eager to be at peace with himself and the world around him.

Unfortunately, he soon discovers that a price has been put on his head, which leads him on a globetrotting journey in an effort to clear his name. Along the way, he’s reunited with old comrades who have since gone into business for themselves, and a long lost love whom he had to leave behind.

Recently, I had the privilege to speak with Morel when he was at The Gunman press day in Los Angeles. While some people might see the film as Taken with Sean Penn instead of Liam Neeson, Morel was quick to shut that down, as his most recent effort proves to be a more character driven piece. In addition, he also talked about what it was like working with Sean Penn and revealed which countries proved to be the most challenging to shoot in.

Check it all out in the video above and be sure to catch The Gunman when it arrives in theatres on March 20.
