Well, I didn’t see this one coming. Deadline is reporting that actor Zach Braff (Garden State) has joined Sam Raimi‘s Oz: The Great and Powerful as Frank, a loyal assistant to James Franco‘s Oz. Shooting in July, Braff will join an already impressive cast that includes James Franco as Oz, Mila Kunis as the witch Theodora, Michelle Williams as Glinda and Rachel Weisz as Evanora.
Aiming for a March 8th, 2013 release, Disney is looking to put the film out in 3D, obviously. With Braff joining, it looks like Raimi finally has his cast in place. As it stands, I’m pretty happy with the names we’ll be seeing in the film. It’s a very strong line up and Braff’s addition just makes it better.
Known best for his role on the television show Scrubs, as well as in the film Garden State, Zach Braff is an accomplished young actor who always manages to entertain. While I don’t watch Scrubs, Garden State is one of my favorite films. It’s a brilliant piece of cinema and one that Braff excels in. The actor’s career seems to have stalled over the past few years but hopefully this film will give his career the kick it needs.
