Much like his silver screen foe Freddy Krueger, Jason will not be included in the base game. Rather, Mr. Voorhees will be included in the optional Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat X, which will grant gamers access to three additional characters, two franchise veterans and another special guest, in addition to Jason.

Fans of the franchise will have several ways to get their hands on the Kombat Pack. The season pass for the title will be packed-in with the previously revealed Mortal Kombat X Kollector’s Edition, Limited Edition, or Premium Edition, or it can also be purchased separately for the rather large cost of $29.99.

Besides the four additional kombatants, the Kombat Pack will also come bundled with the Samurai Pack of costumes. This set will be available at launch, and includes three new skins: Samurai Shinnok, Ronin Kenshi, and Jingu Kitana. Each character will also receive their own individual costume packs later down the line.

If it wasn’t for the rather extravagant cost, I would be all over the Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat X. The DLC characters released for the last title in the franchise were excellent additions to the roster, and I’m sure the four fighters here will be just as good. I just feel that $29.99 is rather steep cost for only four additional characters. Don’t you think?
