Daniel Bruhl is an actor with over 20 years of experience under his belt. In addition to maintaining a highly successful career in European film, Bruhl has collaborated on such Hollywood fare as The Bourne Ultimatum, Inglorious Basterds, The Fifth Estate and Rush – making him a highly sought after name. Little of that has prepared him for joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, which will happen with 2016’s Captain America: Civil War.

The character Bruhl will be playing has yet to be officially confirmed, but many fans have drawn the conclusion that he will be the embodiment of the nefarious Baron Zemo (as reflected by the movie’s IMDB page, incidentally). It has since been announced that Bruhl’s character will also be the main antagonist for the planned Doctor Strange film, however, which threw those fans somewhat off the scent. As reluctant to ‘wait and see’ as they are, fans are now frantically discussing among themselves – which Baron will it be? Zemo, or Mordo?

Bruhl recently spoke to the Wall Street Journal and, inevitably for the newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, he was faced with the Marvel question. It seems that the actor is already quite adept at providing full answers, without giving away any significant information. What’s also clear is that the magnitude of what is about to happen to his career is beginning to sink in.

“I am not supposed to say anything. I cannot even talk about the part, really, because I would be too afraid to give something away and then I’ll end up in the Marvel prison and I do not want that.

“It’s huge for me. From the world I am coming from and the movies I have done, this feels big – megalomania and huge. I think I will be walking around for the first week being amazed, like a little boy, to be in that universe. It is going to be fantastic. It is something new. That is why it is a challenge. But it is something I am very much looking forward to because this is entertainment on the highest level.”

While we must wait until May 6th, 2016 to find out exactly what Daniel Bruhl will be doing in Captain America: Civil War, we can in the meantime find solace in the fact that Marvel continue to recruit outstanding talent to bring their stories to life.
