Captain America: Civil War Drafting Wakandan Extras

Between this May's Avengers: Age of Ultron and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, it seems like Marvel movies are just getting bigger and bigger. It has already been confirmed that Chadwick Boseman's Wakandan ruler T'Challa (aka the Black Panther) will play a key role in the latter, and now an Atlanta casting notice has revealed that he won't be the only visiting dignitary.

Between this May’s Avengers: Age of Ultron and the upcoming Captain America: Civil War, it seems like Marvel movies are just getting bigger and bigger. It has already been confirmed that Chadwick Boseman’s Wakandan ruler T’Challa (aka the Black Panther) will play a key role in the latter, and now an Atlanta casting notice has revealed that he won’t be the only visiting dignitary.

The superhero threequel, which will be directed by The Winter Soldier helmers Anthony and Joe Russo, is set to kick off filming in Georgia in less than two weeks, which means everyone is scrambling to get extras in place. Now, a new casting notice from Tammy Smith Casting has stated that a production in the state is looking for African men and women between 18 and 75, with a “casual look or ETHNIC WARDROBE (is a plus, but not mandatory),” to begin filming scenes this May.

The notice gives the movie’s title as “Sputnik,” but it’s pretty clear that this is Civil War we’re talking about. What’s still unclear is whether these African extras will be playing Wakandans visiting the United States or observing the super-powered throwdown between Captain America (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) from their homeland. Even though T’Challa plays a concrete role in the story, it’s also possible that these Wakandan extras could appear via flashback in scenes that introduce Wakanda but not its ruler himself.

Other ‘types’ requested by the casting notice include generic sorts, like “UPSCALE MEN AND WOMEN,” “MILITARY MEN” with real experience as military or with weapons/tactical training, “SOUTHEAST ASIAN MEN & WOMEN” and “COLLEGE STUDENTS” to be clad in Ivy League-appropriate attire. If you live in Georgia and have some free time between March and May, be sure to check out more on how you could possibly become an extra here.

Captain America: Civil War opens May 6th, 2016.
