Stephen Dorff To Play Texas Ranger In Leatherface

The next romp into the Texan backwoods, where teenagers continue to venture and get chopped up, might be dropping the eye-catching 'Chainsaw Massacre' part of the title but it's still got both. Leatherface, the next instalment in the decades-old franchise, comes from Millenium Entertainment and Lionsgate, with Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo, the duo behind the slasher masterpiece Inside on board to helm.

Of course, no blood-letting romp in Texas with power tools is complete without bodies! Bloody Disgusting now reports that Stephen Dorff (Blade) has entered talks to appear as Texas Ranger Hal Hartman. In the prequel, his character is described as “a lean, mean Texas Ranger who has a vendetta against the teen boy who grows up to become Leatherface.” Who that boy may be is another mystery that’s a part of the film’s twisty plot design.

Thus far, two actors have been cast as teenage psychopaths: Sam Shrike as Jackson, and James Bloor as Ike, one of his buddies. The movie is set to include three youngsters who escape a mental hospital and embark on a violent killing spree. While that third scallywag has yet to be announced, the trio will likely come across Dorff’s law enforcer at some point.

Dorff, Shrike and Bloor are joined by horror genre vet Angela Bettis as Verna Sawyer; the matriarch of the Leatherface clan. For more information on the prequel, cast your eyes over the brief synopsis below.

In this prequel to The Texas Chain Saw Massacre, a young nurse is kidnapped by a group of violent teens who escape from a mental hospital and take her on a road trip from hell. Pursued by an equally deranged lawman out for revenge, one of these teens is destined for tragedy and horrors that will destroy his mind, molding him into the monster we now call Leatherface.
