Tom Hardy Says There’s “No Shadow Of A Doubt” He’ll Keep Playing Mad Max

One of the summer's hottest tickets is sure to be Mad Max: Fury Road, an update of the George Miller classic that, based on trailers, looks like a brilliant blast of pedal-to-the-metal mayhem. With the film trending incredibly well on social media, Warner Bros. is clearly eyeing it as the first in a new franchise, and though much will depend on how Fury Road fares at the box office, star Tom Hardy recently confirmed that he's in it for the long haul.

One of the summer’s hottest tickets is sure to be Mad Max: Fury Road, an update of the George Miller classic that, based on trailers, looks like a brilliant blast of pedal-to-the-metal mayhem. With the film trending incredibly well on social media, Warner Bros. is clearly eyeing it as the first in a new franchise, and though much will depend on how Fury Road fares at the box office, star Tom Hardy recently confirmed that he’s in it for the long haul.

Asked whether he’ll be doing another Mad Max by Total Film Magazine, Hardy stated that it would “largely depend on the performance” of Fury Road but that he is confident in the project. “I have no shadow of doubt in my mind that we’ll be going on again with this,” he said.

Hardy is contracted to reprise the role in three more Mad Max films, but early buzz about the pic suggests the actor has good reason to be confident. With Miller behind the camera, a blockbuster budget and a supporting cast that includes Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult, there’s such an accumulation of talent on Fury Road that it’s hard to see how the film could fail.

Mad Max: Fury Road will make its premiere in an out-of-competition screening at the Cannes Film Festival on May 14th before coming to theaters everywhere the next day.

An apocalyptic story set in the furthest reaches of our planet, in a stark desert landscape where humanity is broken, and almost everyone is crazed fighting for the necessities of life. Within this world exist two rebels on the run who just might be able to restore order. There’s Max, a man of action and a man of few words, who seeks peace of mind following the loss of his wife and child in the aftermath of the chaos. And Furiosa, a woman of action and a woman who believes her path to survival may be achieved if she can make it across the desert back to her childhood homeland.
