Maiden Jurassic World Clip Focuses On Chris Pratt And The Film’s Human Element

Up until this point, the marketing pizzazz for Colin Trevorrow's Jurassic World has largely focused on the dinosaurs roaming the rolling hills of Isla Nebular -- and rightly so. Universal's reboot-cum-sequel is arriving at a time when CGI and digital technology has come on leaps and bounds since the first film wowed audience back in '93, so it makes sense for the studio to trumpet the über-realistic recreations of the movie's main attractions. How and ever, the first clip that found its way online today bucks that trend by focusing on Jurassic World's innate human element.

Universal’s reboot-cum-sequel is arriving at a time when CGI and digital technology has come on leaps and bounds since the first film wowed audience back in ’93, so it makes sense for the studio to trumpet the über-realistic recreations of the movie’s main attractions. However, the first clip that found its way online today bucks that trend by focusing on Jurassic World‘s innate human element. Specifically, the relationship between Chris Pratt’s protagonist Owen and Bryce Dallas Howard’s Claire Dearing.

In the footage above, the Guardians of the Galaxy star is as likeable as ever, showcasing a melange of Star Lord and the cocksure attitude Harrison Ford so often nailed when embodying Han Solo or Indiana Jones. Moreover, as Claire alludes to, there’s also more information about Owen’s strange bond with the velociraptors, which allows him to exude a sense of control and dominance over the vicious beasts, even recruiting them as allies.

And he’ll need them, too, if he’s to go up against the might of the Indominus Rex. As the unofficial leading star of Jurassic World, the genetically-modified dino is a hybrid that boasts unprecedented speed and hunting abilities. After making short work of the dinosaur it was housed with, it isn’t long before it breaks free of its proverbial shackles and its wreaking havoc on the entire island.

Jurassic World will stomp into theaters on June 12. Now that you’ve got an early indication of Chris Pratt’s character, let us know your impressions of his cocksure Owen using the comments below.
