The countdown to Marvel’s summer tentpole Avengers: Age Of Ultron has turned into a never-ending swirl of clips, trailers, TV spots, posters and images. The marketing blitz kickstarted last year with the release of the first official teaser. That tantalizing glimpse at our titular superheroes promptly sent the Internet into flurries of excitement… but didn’t yet reveal any information on one of the movie’s more modest figures.
The true nature of Vision, played by Paul Bettany aka J.A.R.V.I.S., has been expertly masked by Marvel’s marketing honchos in their carefully-orchestrated stream of materials. While he made his trailer debut not long ago, it was only a scant look at the android fluttering open his manufactured eyes for the first time.
Now though, Marvel’s gone and blown the lid on all-things Vision. Over the last 24 hours, a batch of brand new magazine covers to promote coverage of the movie have landed online. Courtesy of EW and Total Film, the newsstand art re-iterates what lies in store for Earth’s Mightiest Heroes (a massive fight with Ultron) and includes Bettany’s suited-up Vision in their midst.
If that’s not enough to satiate your cravings, Marvel has since debuted a character poster for the super-powered entity! You can check out all of the covers, the poster and a couple of shots of Claudia Kim as geneticist Dr. Helen Cho (via CBM) in the gallery above.
Hidden within EW’s coverage is a morsel of new intel concerning Vision’s origins. Thus far, the main thrust of knowledge supports the idea that Vision is created by Ultron in retaliation for his own existence. However, two pieces of promotional art that surfaced last year indicate he is in fact engineered by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner to assist the Avengers in their war against the robotic tyrant. Based on this new excerpt from the coverage, the former notion is being carried forward.
