After a well received first season, Marvel's Daredevil series has officially been given the greenlight for another run of episodes on Netflix, which means we have about 13 hours of exciting superhero television to look forward to in 2016. And, now that Matt Murdock has ascended from being a rookie vigilante to the costumed hero we know and love, we can expect his stories to take on new life next season. That means that Marvel will need to bring in more characters, some of which will hopefully deepen the connection the Man Without Fear has with the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While nothing has been officially announced just yet, here are 7 characters who could bring with them some seminal Daredevil stories from the comics and plenty more geek-tastic moments.

Charlie Cox Says Season Two Of Daredevil Will Arrive In April 2016

Unsurprisingly, the highly anticipated Netflix Original series Daredevil has been very well received, since it premiered on the streaming platform on April 10th. Praised for its impressive fight sequences, breathtaking camera work, and impeccable performances from Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio in particular, few eyebrows were raised when Netflix recently announced its intention to add a second season of Daredevil to its Marvel slate – which already includes AKA Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist and the Defenders.

Unsurprisingly, the highly anticipated Netflix Original series Daredevil has been very well received ever since it premiered on the streaming platform on April 10th.

Shortly after the announcement was made, Empire broached the subject with series star Charlie Cox, and encouraged the actor to speculate about which additional characters he would like to see get involved.

“I have to be careful, because we just got commissioned, so I have no idea who is going to turn up. Based on the show we’ve created, which is very grounded in reality, I’d like to see Punisher maybe show up. A little bit of Elektra maybe. I wouldn’t mind Black Widow making an appearance, and you can’t think about Daredevil for too long without thinking of Bullseye. I don’t know when or if or how that would happen, but it’d be cool if it did.”

Who wouldn’t want to have Black Widow show up in their TV series? For the uninitiated, one of the most the interesting things about the creation of a Daredevil Netflix series is the fact that, in the comic book source material, the superhero spent a significant amount of time being romantically involved with the former Russian agent. Given that one of the biggest criticisms of Marvel’s Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. is that it is apparently unable to have the big superhero film stars turn up – making the idea of a ‘cohesive universe’ a little shaky – could the Netflix reputation be enough to lure Scarlett Johansson onto the small screen?
