First Look At Call Of Duty: Black Ops III Gameplay Takes The Action Back To The Future

As promised, Activision has lifted the curtain on the first very gameplay clip for this year’s Call of Duty: Black Ops III, dragging the blistering action that has become synonymous with the franchise into a dark and cybernetic future – one in which technology is king.  

The year is 2056. Mankind, having harnessed the power of bleeding-edge tech, has revolutionzed the battlefield and its inhabitants by blurring the line between man and machine. Such an approach has essentially transformed humans into weapons for hire, incorporating tech such as retina implants, DNA upgrades and robotic, superpowered limbs. As such, fans of the blockbuster series can expect a great many changes to the gameplay set-up of Call of Duty, as Treyarch – taking the reigns off of Sledgehammer Games following Advanced Warfare – look to push the series further into the future.

However, Black Ops III will also be taking cues from the studio’s track record; specifically, how it handles the multiplayer segment prior to release. Much like the upcoming Halo 5: Guardians, Treyarch’s title will host a multiplayer beta for those who pre-order the game ahead of time. Speaking at today’s reveal event, head honcho Mark Lamia touched upon the mantra behind the early build.

“The public MP beta will be available for anyone who pre-orders the game. We want people to play before it launches. The team is so excited to offer this opportunity, which is something the franchise hasn’t done since Call of Duty: World at War.”

No word yet on a release date for said beta, but the fact that Treyarch is hosting a multiplayer event before Black Ops III hits the market is evidence of the studio striving to perfect the online component, given that it arguably the main attraction.

But that’s not all that Call of Duty: Black Ops III will offer. In keeping with previous installments, the core content will be divided into three segments, with campaign and multiplayer being joined by the ever-addicting Zombies Mode. In the reveal trailer above, we see a brief glimpse of the popular survival mode, and we’ll no doubt learn more about the new changes the studio is bringing to the table over the coming weeks.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III will be released across PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on November 6, 2015. For those looking to pick up the futuristic shooter on the latter platform, you can consult the minimum specs required down below.
