Billed as the Netherlands’ longest-running music festival, the seeds of Mysteryland were sown in the Amsterdam underground dance music scene of the early ’90s. “Overnight, electronic music exploded,” says the video’s narrator. “The house music scene was born, as many great things in life, underground. But beautiful things need to be admired and good things need to be heard.” Vintage photographs contribute to tell the tale, documenting moments in time that led up to the Mysteryland brand’s modern-day renown.

To the event’s credit, its lineup does feature a diverse array of talent, where those of other music festivals apparently do everything in their power to be carbon copies of each other.

Mysteryland USA will take place in the Bethel Woods, New York – on the same grounds as the original Woodstock festival – from May 22nd-25th. Will you be attending? Sound off below!
