Could Syphon Filter 4 be one of Sony’s big game announcements at next week’s E3? It’s sure looking that way, as they briefly posted a message on their U.S. website, stating that the game is in development using a new engine.

It listed Sony Computer Entertainment London as being the ones behind the project, with a release window of fiscal quarter 4, 2012 mentioned. Further information revealed that it will be running on a new engine.

After VG 24/7 did some snooping, they discovered that Sony has officially registered not one but five different domains for a new Syphon Filter project. All of the domains feature variants on the series’ title, such as Ops, HQ, Game and Command.

It seems very plausible that the game will get a full reveal at next week’s exposition.
