Though Netflix is still riding high on the runaway success of its Marvel series Daredevil, the streaming giant is busy plotting its second collaboration with the superhero-centric company: A.K.A. Jessica Jones.

While a premiere date has not yet been revealed outside of a general understanding that we’ll see the show before year’s end, an Amazon listing for the series’ companion book (out this November) has unveiled some intriguing new details about the titular heroine (Krysten Ritter):

Ever since her short-lived stint as a Super Hero ended in tragedy, Jessica Jones has been rebuilding her personal life and career as a hot-tempered, sardonic, badass private detective in Hell’s Kitchen, New York City. Plagued by self-loathing, and a wicked case of PTSD, Jessica battles demons from within and without, using her extraordinary abilities as an unlikely champion for those in need… especially if they’re willing to cut her a check.

Excitingly, A.K.A. Jessica Jones is taking viewers back to Hell’s Kitchen, the crime-ridden New York neighborhood where Daredevil unfolded, though the different creative team here suggests that we’ll see a new spin on the seedy setting. The synopsis doesn’t mention anything about supporting players like Luke Cage (Mike Colter), Zebediah Kilgrave/The Purple Man (David Tennant) and Patsy Walker/Hellcat (Rachael Taylor), or the enigmatic characters being played by Carrie-Anne Moss, Eka Darville, Erin Moriarty and Wil Traval, but that’s sure to come in future plot teases.

What else does that synopsis tell us? It’s relieving that Netflix and Marvel are going with the beloved private detective iteration of Jessica Jones – her traumatic backstory, which will likely involve the monstrous Kilgrave if the comics are any indication, is part of what makes her such a strong, smart and snarky protagonist. That she’s also more of a hero-for-hire than a heart of gold vigilante should also be fun to see, especially given that we know The Defenders will eventually find her teaming up with The Man Without Fear.

A.K.A. Jessica Jones hits Netflix later this year.
