Ready for another road trip with Noct and Co.? Square Enix is certainly hoping so, after the publisher confirmed today that Episode Duscae 2.0 – the updated demo for hotly-anticipated JRPG sequel, Final Fantasy XV – will be available to download in early June.

Placing fan feedback atop the list of priorities, Square has ensured that many of the complaints, including framerate issues and a handful of technical bugs, have been eradicated with this more complete build. Essentially, Episode Duscae demo is designed so that players can “see and feel how the game is improving toward the final release.”

That’s a little later than the original May release, though fans will be pleased to note that this fine-tuned vertical slice should make its way onto digital storefronts before Friday, June 5. It’s a date that just so happens to be the week before E3; however, Square has been vocal about Final Fantasy XV‘s absence from the annual trade show, reserving the next showcase from the JRPG sequel until Gamescom in August. Hopefully by that stage the Japanese giant will be ready to formally unveil a release date for XV – a title that has been almost a decade in the making following its reveal as Versus XIII.

As for the imminent Episode Duscae 2.0, common complaints such as sporadic camera angles and the frustrating targeting system should be rectified, while Noct’s weaponry has also been fine-tuned to allow for a wider range. It’s a sign of the times that Square Enix has been so candid about Final Fantasy XV‘s prolonged development, pursuing a Steam Early Access-like approach by showcasing the sequel as work-in-progress before its likely release at some point in 2016.
