Octodad Slithers Onto PlayStation Vita Next Week, Supports Cross-Buy And Single Device Co-Op

Developer Young Horses has announced that its idiosyncratic, wholly bonkers platformer Octodad: Dadliest Catch will slither onto PlayStation Vita on May 26.

Featuring Cross-Buy support and single device co-op in the vein of Nidhogg, the port will feature a new set of trophies, though the studio noted that there is no Cross-Save between the Vita version and its console brethren. Still, those who have already purchased the peculiar title – wherein an octopus tries to hide in plain sight as a loving father – will be able to pick up the handheld iteration at no extra cost.

Given the sporadic control scheme in Octodad, we can only imagine how wonderfully ridiculously the single device co-op will prove to be. With two players controlling one side of the Vita each, the mode is said to utilize the rear-touch panel and front touchscreen as you try to carry out everyday tasks in a not-so-everyday situation.

Much like the port of the rather excellent Towerfall: Ascension, Sickhead Games will be handling the Octodad: Dadliest Catch Vita version, and we’ll keep you posted as the platformer gears up for its handheld launch on May 26.
