As one of the funniest women in comedy, it's a crime that Amy Schumer isn't a household name yet. Thankfully, that will all change once Trainwreck crashes into theatres. The Judd Apatow flick was written as a star vehicle for Schumer and with the talent that's on board to aid her, it will surely serve its purpose.

With Trainwreck seemingly poised to become the breakout comedy of the summer, Amy Schumer is basking in a whole lot of attention from major studios right now. The Inside Amy Schumer comedienne has just signed on to co-write and star in a mother-daughter comedy for 20th Century Fox, with Bridesmaids director Paul Feig producing.

No actress is attached to take on the other lead role yet, but Schumer will portray a daughter whose vacation abroad with her mother takes a drastic turn. The pic is being described as an action-comedy in the vein of the Feig-directed buddy cop comedy, The Heat.

Interestingly, Schumer is penning the script with real-life sister Kim Caramele, who has previously written episodes of Inside Amy Schumer. They’ll be revising an earlier draft by Katie Dippold in order to put the comedy in Schumer’s distinctly bawdy, culturally savvy voice. Dippold, who also wrote episodes of Parks and Recreation and is now tackling both the upcoming sequel to The Heat (which she also wrote) and Ghostbusters, is still involved as a producer.

No director is attached, but that’s likely coming soon. In the meantime, let us revel in the fact that Schumer, who has delivered some of the best sketch comedy anywhere on television in the past few years, is making the jump to the big screen with not one but two vehicles in which she can display her incredible knack for skewering every ridiculous, horrific or outdated aspect of modern culture out there (if you want an example of what I’m talking about, take a look at her take on sexting… or her pitch-perfect satire of the military’s shameful treatment of rape victims… or her response to Steubenville).

Regardless of what you watch, Schumer’s charisma and fearlessness will be on full display – there’s no reason to expect her theatrical ventures to be any different in that respect.
