First Point Break Trailer Is A Pure Adrenaline Rush

The Fast and Furious franchise may be shifting into a lower gear for a little while, but if high-flying thrills are what you're craving, Alcon Entertainment, Warner Bros. and Lionsgate will have you covered this Christmas with their action-packed remake of Point Break. The first trailer for the redo, starring Luke Bracey and Edgar Ramirez, makes it clear that the action-thriller isn't playing around, with all manner of high-octane athletic endeavors, from surfing to wingsuit flying to motorcycling.

Of course, there is a plot – it centers on an FBI agent attempting to infiltrate a team of criminals who use their athleticism to get away with audacious crimes – but the real attraction here is Point Break‘s promise of over-the-top athletic feats. The production enlisted performers from all over the world to add to the realism of the film, and if the trailer is any indication, that’s a bet that seems to have paid off in a very big way.

Point Break is facing tough competition in its opening weekend from Will Smith football drama Concussion, David O. Russell’s Jennifer Lawrence-starring biopic Joy, Oliver Stone’s Snowden and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s historical thriller The Revenant, but it’s arguably the most mainstream out of those theater attractions, so it’s easy to see why the studios still have confidence.

Check out the first trailer above and let us know if you’ll be catching the film once it hits theatres.
