Xbox One Exclusive Platformer Inside Hit With Delay

Since its peculiar debut at E3 last year, little has been released for PlayDead's latest platformer Inside. As the spiritual successor to the rather excellent Limbo, fans have been hoping for another genre piece that proves to be just as resonant, though as it turns out, those looking forward to PlayDead's sophomore release will have to taper their excitement.

Since its peculiar debut at E3 last year, little has been released for PlayDead’s latest platformer, Inside. As the spiritual successor to the rather excellent Limbo, fans have been hoping for another genre piece that proves to be just as resonant, though as it turns out, those looking forward to PlayDead’s sophomore release will have to taper their excitement.

IGN has learned that the indie studio has opted to postpone Inside from its original early 2015 release window due to the fact that the 2.5D platformer requires a prolonged stint in development.

“Last year we announced that INSIDE would be out in ‘early 2015’. It’s not!” the studio informed IGN via email. “After 5 years in development, we, more than anyone, are looking forward to the release. We are so close, but getting it right has taken a little more time than we anticipated.”

Situated in a dark, Orwellian world, Inside has been simmering in development for close to five years at this point, though the fact that PlayDead noted how close it was to completion should ensure that the platformer is released during the summer. In fact, we could find out a specific release date during Microsoft’s E3 conference.

Inside will slink exclusively onto Xbox One a little later than expected, but stay tuned as we’ll keep you updated when we learn more of its revised release window.
