Trance king Armin Van Buuren has released his interpretation of Game of Thrones‘ theme song, and it’s a masterful ode to the pop-culture sensation.
The producer has played the remix in several of his own sets, including his headlining performance at Ultra ’15, but the track only recently had its official premiere on A State Of Trance episode 716. At the beginning of the segment, you can hear Armin express his gratitude for the opportunity to remix Ramin Djawadi’s original composition
Armin Van Buuren has kept the overall melodic progression much the same as the original, thoughtfully upping the tempo and garnishing the track with staple trance synths to transform the tune entirely. While Djawadi’s emotional string elements are nowhere to be found, the remix succeeds in capturing the essence of the show, taking listeners on a dark and devious journey through a medieval landscape.
