Treading a similar path to Ubisoft in its renewed interest in indie games, EA unveiled the wondrous platformer on gaming’s biggest stage, and though Sahlin was understandably nervous, the 2D platformer is undeniably gorgeous. Combining elements associated with the likes of Rayman and an aesthetic not unlike LittleBigPlanet, we’re already cautiously optimistic for this one.

Per Polygon:

“Everyone at EA is so genuinely into this. It would be easy to think they are being cynical and just saying, ‘oh, let’s try to be indie,’ but it’s not like that. It feels like more like dealing with people who genuinely like the game. Let’s say you attach yourself somewhere, like you’re mountaineering. If you anchor yourself you can jump off and grab the rope in mid-air and just change your momentum so you can swing in under something. It allows you to grab the next thing. You get this real flow going.”

Unravel will string players along on a serene adventure when it launches for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC. No word yet on a release date or even window, though we’ll be sure to keep you posted as we learn more. In the meantime, check out the really rather lovely trailer above.
