After more than three years away, Tony Hawk will finally come back to consoles this September. According to the titular skater himself, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 will launch on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 29. Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the title are still scheduled, but will release at a later time.

A return to franchise roots following a pair of disastrous peripheral-based outings, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 serves as a direct follow-up to 2002’s Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 4. Instead of the complete ridiculousness that ran rampant through later entries in the series, this outing is more centered on scoring mass points and completing fiendish tricks.

While I’m all for a new entry in the Pro Skater franchise, I have to be honest, Pro Skater 5 has done little to impress me so far. The released footage from the game hasn’t exactly thrilled me, and I’m wary of Robomodo, who handled the less than stellar Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater HD. I do hope that everyone can get their act together though, as the franchise could certainly use a comeback.

Tell us, will you be picking up Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5 when it launches this September?
