The Russo brothers may currently be busy filming Captain America: Civil War, but that hasn’t stopped the duo from prepping their next big Marvel Studios endeavor: Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1.

According to SpoilerTV, casting auditions for the first part of the big Phase Three crossover event are already underway in Los Angeles and one of the roles that Marvel is looking to cast is that of Magus, the evil doppelganger of fan-favorite superhero Adam Warlock.

In the comics, Magus is Warlock’s bad side and is separated from his host when Warlock obtains the Infinity Gauntlet and cleanses himself of all good and evil. Magus then hatches a plan to get the Infinity Gauntlet for himself, make doppelgangers of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and create a universe of evil. It’s a bit of a crazy plan, but hey, that’s what supervillains do, right?

Seeing as Thanos’ coveted Infinity Gauntlet plays a major role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (as all Infinity Gems have slowly been set up through various films), bringing someone like Magus into the fold certainly makes sense. This, of course, means that Adam Warlock will have to show up at some point as well, meaning that rumors of his appearance in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 may not be that far off after all.

How Magus fits into the MCU will be made clear when Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1 hits theaters on May 4th, 2018.
