Man Barters For A Free Copy Of Fallout 4 By Sending Bethesda Over 2,000 Bottle Caps

Who needs real, legal tender when you can just buy stuff with bottle caps? That looks to be one Fallout fan's mantra; an Imgur user going by the name of 'Seth' has been documenting his quest to send Bethesda a collection of bottle caps he's been hoarding - presumably since he became of legal age to drink, considering how many there are - in the hopes of getting a free copy of Fallout 4.

Who needs real, legal tender when you can just buy stuff with bottle caps? That looks to be one Fallout fan’s mantra; an Imgur user going by the name of ‘Seth’ has been documenting his quest to send Bethesda a collection of bottle caps he’s been hoarding – presumably since he became of legal age to drink, considering how many there are – in the hopes of getting a free copy of Fallout 4.

Fallout 3 was my favourite game for several years, so I made the rational choice to start saving up bottle caps. Turns out 4.5 years of undergrad and three years in a Master’s program leads to a lot of drinking. It ended up being 11.2 pounds of bottle caps. You don’t want to know how much it cost to ship it to Maryland.

After several weeks without a peep, Seth finally updated his profile, confirming that Bethesda had in fact received the giant shipment of scrap metal.

He [Bethesda’s Matt Grandstaff] told me since I was the first person to do this, I would be receiving a copy of the game this November, and that he would be running my caps over to deposit them at the People’s Bank of Point Lookout.

If you’re thinking about attempting to do the same thing as Seth, you better start saving now. If it takes you as long as it took him, you might just have enough by the time Fallout 5 comes out.

Fallout 4 releases November 10 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. Sadly, retailers are only accepting real money.
