If you want more information on Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance, then you’ve come to the right place, dood! NIS America has detailed the new gameplay systems that players will be able to check out once the game launches on October 6 (or October 9 if you live in Europe) for PlayStation 4.

There are three new systems on offer, each of which add a new wrinkle to the popular tactical role-playing game. Alliance Attacks, for instance, will let the main protagonists of Disgaea 5: Alliance of Vengeance buddy up with a teammate to pull off a powerful attack in battle. If it sounds familiar, dood, that’s because it’s similar to Team Attacks in previous Disgaea entries.

Another new battle mechanic is Revenge Mode. This will give players a better chance at changing the tide of battle, as characters will become more powerful once their partners have taken damage. Revenge Mode also ties into the final new character type, Overlords.

Overlords have special attacks that are only able to be used when they have entered Revenge Mode. NIS America describes these skills as “completely over-the-top, and awe-inspiring animations to assault your foes.”

All three of these new mechanics will provide some additional depth to a series that is already known for its deep battle system. In particular, Revenge Mode seems like a big change, as it may turn losing an ally into an advantage for the player.

Once you’ve wrapped your head around these new features, dood, you should check out this gallery of new Disgaea 5 screenshots and leave a comment with your thoughts!
