Fans of the FlatOut franchise, and demolition derby games in general, will be happy to hear that the series is gearing up for a return. In fact, we’ve received confirmation that Kylotonn Games and publisher Strategy First are teaming up to release a new title sometime next year.

Little is known about this new FlatOut game, other than the fact that it will return to the series’ demolition-based roots. That, and how the developer has reached out to the online community in order to gather advice.

“After receiving numerous offers from great developers worldwide, Strategy First is confident that Kylotonn Entertainment will deliver the FlatOut experience that fans have been waiting for. The all-new FlatOut will be the most ambitious title in the franchise’s history,” states the publisher in its announcement release.

A once popular franchise from Bugbear Entertainment, FlatOut was known for presenting interesting takes on the demolition genre. Its gameplay was visceral, and its subject matter comical, including mini-games where crashes would send drivers hurtling towards objects like dart boards. Needless to say, it’s a design that oozes fun when handled properly, which will hopefully be the case here.

Stay tuned for more information pertaining to this project, and keep an eye out for FlatOut on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in 2016.
