Billboard’s Holding A Music Festival And It Looks Massive

Perhaps no other nationally syndicated entertainment publication has covered the contemporary EDM explosion to the degree that Billboard has. Famous for its music charts as well as its in-depth analysis of industry trends, the magazine has succeeded in staying relevant even as the recording sales sector has turned on its head. As such, it seems an almost predictable next step for the company to organize its own music festival.

Named after the iconic music chart of its namesake, the Hot 100 Festival will feature 40+ artists across three stages from August 22-23 at the Nikon at Jones Beach Theater in New York City. In addition to pop megastars like The Weeknd and Nicki Minaj, the lineup boasts a veritable who’s who of the EDM world – Skrillex, Kygo, The Chainsmokers and Lindsey Stirling stand out among the names on the roster.

In all reality, though, Billboard might be making their way onto the festival bandwagon a little too late. With festivals like TomorrowWorld and Electric Zoo commanding considerably more name brand recognition around that time and in that general region of the country, a first-time festival requires more than an iconic media outlet’s branding to bring bodies through the gates.

Nevertheless, tickets go on sale on July 16th. After looking at the lineup below, would you consider buying tickets to Billboard‘s Hot 100 Festival? Let us know in the comments section.
