No Post-Credits Scene In Fantastic Four, Says Jamie Bell

Marvel logic would dictate that seemingly every superhero film will come packing a post-credits sting - aside from Avengers: Age of Ultron, mind you, which only contained a mid-credits tidbit. However, it's a method of world-building that isn't likely to be adapted by Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, after actor Jamie Bell confirmed to MTV that beyond appreciating the scores of people who contributed to the movie, there's really no reason to hang around once the flick concludes.

Marvel logic would dictate that seemingly every superhero film will come packing a post-credits sting – aside from Avengers: Age of Ultron, mind you, which only contained a mid-credits tidbit. However, it’s a method of world-building that isn’t likely to be adapted by Josh Trank’s Fantastic Four reboot, after actor Jamie Bell confirmed to MTV that beyond appreciating the scores of people who contributed to the movie, there’s really no reason to hang around once the flick concludes.

While 20th Century Fox has employed post-credit stings in the past – most recently, Days of Future Past included one – the studio won’t shoehorn in any segments deemed to be unnecessary. Speaking about its absence, Bell assured fans that the actual ending of Fantastic Four will leave the audience with questions aplenty, all the while opening up doors for potential sequels.

“No we don’t have a post-credits scene,” Bell said. “It does leave the door wide open for a lot of different movies. I think this movie really focuses on the origins of each character individually – how they get their powers, how they learn to deal with them, how they learn to harness them. That’s kind of where the movie ends. But then there’s so much more to go on from there – it really leaves the door open.”

Fox has already slated a direct sequel to its Fantastic Four retelling for release in 2017, which is either a bold vote of confidence in Josh Trank’s vision or wishful thinking. Because in reality, the lasting appeal of Marvel’s First Family has been somewhat tainted by the previous and campy interpretations, so can Trank and Simon Kinberg deliver a new take that is worthy of a sequel? Time will tell.

Fantastic Four will assemble Miles Teller, Kate Mara, Michael B. Jordon and Jamie Bell as Ben Grimm when the film hits on August 7.
