UPDATE: Microsoft has stated that this date is incorrect, although it promises a holiday release.
First spotted by the eagle-eyed users of Reddit, Microsoft has seemingly confirmed that Lionhead’s upcoming co-operative RPG Fable Legends will make its bow for Xbox One and PC on October 13, with cross-platform play between both systems to boot.
The ghost announcement was made during the Comic-Con reaction video embedded above, where two Xbox hosts noted that the upcoming console-exclusive is due to launch in October. We’ll update this post should Microsoft announce a different date, though the purported window does align with Lionhead’s development cycle.
After all, Fable Legends has been simmering in production for quite some time, as the creative team transitioned the franchise into an “online world,” one which will also have SmartGlass integration. Featuring four players a pantomime, player-controlled villain, the set-up is reminiscent of Turtle Rock’s Evolve from earlier in the year. Sporting a similar dynamic between good guys and bad, it’s understood that players will be able to partake in the game’s online world solo, which would have the remaining roles filled by AI.
The game is also a prequel, taking place several hundred years before the events of the original, beloved trilogy.
