Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Captain America: Civil War To Be Teased At Disney D23 Event Next Month

Aside from the wondrous and emotional behind-the-scenes clip from San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, Disney didn't have a big presence at the massive fan event, and it was DC and Warner Bros. that stole much of the headlines with its own heavyweights. How and ever, with the upcoming D23 looming large, the House of Mouse has revealed plans to tease new details for both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Captain America: Civil War at the expo in August.

Aside from the wondrous and emotional behind-the-scenes clip from San Diego Comic-Con earlier this month, Disney didn’t have a big presence at the massive fan event, and it was DC and Warner Bros. that stole much of the headlines with its own heavyweights. How and ever, with the upcoming D23 looming large, the House of Mouse has revealed plans to tease new details for both Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Captain America: Civil War at the expo in August.

Set to kickoff on the weekend of Friday, August 14, the Disney-centric event will feature numerous panels from the studio’s most-anticipated properties. And though fans will no doubt be clamouring at the bit for any tidbit relating to the aforementioned pair, there will also be room for the likes of Alice Through the Looking Glass, as well as Pixar’s upcoming Finding Dory and The Good Dinosaur. Earlier this week, we were treated to the sumptuous full-length trailer for the studio’s prehistoric animation, which imagines a planet Earth where the huge asteroid that wiped out the dinosaurs simply whizzed on by.

As for The Force Awakens and Civil War, what can we really expect? Well, an all-new, full-length trailer for our favorite galaxy far, far away seems unlikely considering that it’s only been three months seen the last. Beyond Mark Hamill’s voice and the crowd-pleasing final shot of Han and Chewie, there’s still been very little shown of the film that includes the original cast. Understandable, of course, given Abrams’ push toward a whole new future, but don’t be too surprised if we see some teaser of Hamill and Fisher as the Jedi siblings.

Switching gears to Joe and Anthony Russo’s Captain America: Civil War, we know that the threequel has been busy filming in an African marketplace, hinting that whatever footage there is lying in the can revolves around Black Panther’s home of Wakanda. Is it possible we’ll see the first clip for the anticipated follow-up in a few weeks’ time? Time will tell.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens will bring back one of cinema’s most endearing franchises when J.J. Abrams’ space opera hits theaters on December 18. Captain America: Civil War, meanwhile, will drag the Marvel Cinematic Universe into Phase Three on May 6, 2016.
