Opening in theaters on July 24th is Samba, the new French film from directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. It follows the titular Senegal immigrant (played by Omar Sy) who has lived in France for ten years working at various low paid jobs. Eventually, he crosses paths with Alice (Charlotte Gainsbourg), a senior executive who has recently had a breakdown.

Both struggle to get out of their dead-end lives. While Samba tries to earn his working papers, Alice attempts to get her life back on track, until fate finally brings them together.

Recently, at the LA press day for Samba, we sat down with Sy for an exclusive interview about his new film. The acclaimed actor discussed with us French vs. American cinema, reuniting with directors Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledan, working with Gainsbourg, the importance of home and if he’ll reprise his role as Bishop in any upcoming X-Men movies.

Check it out in the video above and be sure to catch Samba when it hits theatres this Friday!
