Spider-Man Reboot Could Feature Kraven The Hunter As The Villian

While the film could feature pretty much any bad guy that we haven't seen on the big screen in a previous Spider-Man movie, there's some intriguing new evidence to suggest that Marvel, Sony and the writing team of John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein are at least considering the possibility of having Sergei Kravinoff hunt the Webhead through the streets of New York in their upcoming standalone flick.

While the film could feature pretty much any bad guy that we haven’t seen on the big screen in a previous Spider-Man movie, there’s some intriguing new evidence to suggest that Marvel, Sony and the writing team of John Francis Daly and Jonathan Goldstein are at least considering the possibility of having Sergei Kravinoff hunt the Webhead through the streets of New York in their upcoming standalone flick.

Heroic Hollywood reports that Sony’s current Vice President of Creative Affairs, Karen Moy, recently purchased a copy of Kraven’s Last Hunt on Amazon. What’s the big deal about that? Well, the site goes on to reveal that during her 20 plus year tenure at Sony, Moy has purchased a lot of other comics (presumably for research purposes) for her former boss, Amy Pascal.

This isn’t really that much to go on, of course, but we have seen producers/actors/studio reps etc. pick up specific comic books in the past only to discover that the stories or characters involved were being used for the plots of upcoming movies – so it’s worth keeping an eye on, at the very least.

Kraven’s Last Hunt is considered by many to be one of the best Spider-Man stories of all-time, so if Sony and co. are thinking about using Kraven, it makes sense that they’d be looking to it for research.

What do you think, though? Anything to this, or is it just pure coincidence? Sound off below!
