Cash Cash Goes Hip-Hop With Devil

Cash Cash isn't one of the oldest EDM outfits out there by any means, but we still thought we knew them a little better than this. The New York City-based trio usually puts out the glittery kind of progressive house that finds its way into emotional festival aftermovies, but their latest track, "Devil," marks a hard left towards mainstream hip-hop.

Cash Cash isn’t one of the oldest EDM outfits out there by any means, but we still thought we knew them a little better than this. The New York City-based trio usually puts out the glittery kind of progressive house that finds its way into emotional festival aftermovies, but their latest track, “Devil,” marks a hard left towards mainstream hip-hop.

What’s even more surprising is the caliber of talent featured on the track. Rap heavyweights Busta Rhymes and B.o.B. contribute verses to the 808-laden arrangement, while UK singer/songwriter Neon Hitch’s vocal hook gives it a distinctly radio-friendly quality. A bouncy trap drop rounds out the rest of the production, making it infectiously danceable.

And honestly, it’s hard to bash on the track. Sure, trap is becoming passé and the song doesn’t exactly reinvent the wheel, but considering that Cash Cash usually turn out music that could be repurposed by pop singers, the success with which they executed “Devil” deserves some respect.

Of course, we want to know if you feel the same way. Listen to “Devil” by Cash Cash and let us know what you think of the track by sounding off in the comments.
