During the Television Critics Association summer press tour in Beverly Hills, Supergirl producers Geoff Johns and Andrew Kreisberg spilled some interesting new details about the upcoming show. We’ve already been told not to expect an appearance from Superman, and it has now been confirmed that the Man of Steel will only be spoken about by the other characters and won’t be depicted on screen.

But don’t fret DC fans, there will be at least four other established comic characters adapted for the small screen! Word is we can expect to see Livewire, Red Tornado, General Lane and Non pop up at some point in the first nine episodes.

Livewire is an electrically-charged villain who popped up in Smallville all those years ago. General Lane (father of Lois and Lucy), meanwhile, has also had quite a few incarnations in both film and TV, and Non is the mute Krytonian henchman of Zod that featured in Superman II. It’s Red Tornado that has fans most exited though, as this will mark the first live-action appearance for the heroic android.

How these guys will factor into the show remains to be seen, but expect some casting details fairly soon. Until then, tell us, what do you think of these additions?

Supergirl premiers on October 26th.
