First Hitman: Agent 47 Clip Sees Rupert Friend’s Assassin Up Against It

As a genetically-modified assassin with no emotions to call his own, Rupert Friend's man-made killing machine is always within arm's reach of his trusty and iconic handguns. However, in this latest Hitman: Agent 47 clip from Entertainment Weekly, the footage imagines a scenario when our ice-cold protagonist is left with only his wit and will to tackle oncoming baddies - and, well, I think you'll find he does just fine.

As a genetically-modified assassin with no emotions to call his own, Rupert Friend’s man-made killing machine is always within arm’s reach of his trusty and iconic handguns. Alongside him is Hannah Ware’s Katia van Dees, who essentially acts as the driving force behind Fox’s video game adaptation. As the daughter to the malevolent owner of Syndicate International, Ware’s character plays a major part in the story if Friend’s agent really is to sabotage the entire operation that birthed him in the first place.

Mind you, as some of the more recent trailers have showcased, Hitman: Agent 47 holds a secret in that Ware’s mysterious figure is actually an agent of her own – agent 90, to be specific – who harbors near-superhuman abilities, with one sequence even seeing her free herself in front of a airplane-sized jet engine.

Rupert Friend will assume the title role in 20th Century Fox’s Hitman: Agent 47 when the video game adaptation rappels into theaters on August 21.

HITMAN: AGENT 47 centers on an elite assassin who was genetically engineered from conception to be the perfect killing machine, and is known only by the last two digits on the barcode tattooed on the back of his neck. He is the culmination of decades of research – and forty-six earlier Agent clones — endowing him with unprecedented strength, speed, stamina and intelligence. His latest target is a mega-corporation that plans to unlock the secret of Agent 47’s past to create an army of killers whose powers surpass even his own. Teaming up with a young woman who may hold the secret to overcoming their powerful and clandestine enemies, 47 confronts stunning revelations about his own origins and squares off in an epic battle with his deadliest foe.
