Disney’s ragtag crew of swashbucklers have all but wrapped up principal filming Down Under, and to mark the occasion, long-time producer of the larger-than-life series Jerry Bruckheimer has shared an image from the Australian set of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Cropping up on Twitter, the stark snap showcases Kaya Scodelario and Geoffrey Rush – who reprises his role as the beloved, slightly unhinged Hector Barbossa.

After taking time out while franchise stalwart Johnny Deep nursed a set injury, pre-production work on Disney’s blockbuster sequel is essentially finished, though considering the heavy amount of VFX still to be done, it’ll be some time yet before we can feast our eyes on a trailer of clip of the company’s latest high-seas adventure.
As the fifth entry into the billion-dollar series, Dead Men Tell No Tales will offer Depp and Co. with the chance to recapture the pioneering spirit of the original Pirates of the Caribbean. It’s no secret that Disney’s maritime series has lost its way with recent iterations, and we’re holding out hope that 2017’s sequel will act as a return to form.
With Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg at the helm, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales is due to set sail for theaters worldwide on July 7, 2017.
Thrust into an all-new adventure, a down-on-his-luck Captain Jack Sparrow (Depp) finds the winds of ill-fortune blowing even more strongly when deadly ghost pirates led by his old nemesis, the terrifying Captain Salazar (Javier Bardem), escape from the Devil’s Triangle, determined to kill every pirate at sea…including him.
