As we expected, Electronic Arts will be showing off Battlefield 3 at next week’s E3 expo. Attendees will be able to test out the stunning first-person shooter via two playable modes: single player and multiplayer. However, those aren’t the only two things they will be showing off in relation to the visceral military shooter.
In addition to new trailers and screenshots, the publisher will provide “in-depth previews” at the industry event. Its Operation Metro multiplayer map will be playable on the show floor and, according to the Battlefield Blog it, “combines both sides of the scale into one cohesive experience.” Attendees will also get the opportunity to “temporarily disable vehicles, go prone, mount weapons, lay down suppressive fire and more,” within the map’s confines.
Its developers at DICE have made it public that they have added two huge new elements into the experience: a team deathmatch mode, and co-op campaign gameplay. Neither one will be shown at next week’s expo in Los Angeles, however.
The Battlelog feature and its social feeds, stats-tracking and detailed information, will also not be shown this time around. It will be available for free when the game launches, and will allow you to “manage your friends lists, squad up, create platoons, use voice chat and follow your friends’ progress in real-time, and more,” according to DICE GM, Karl Magnus Troedsson. Updates on the service will be available in the future.
Battlefield 3 begins its tour of duty this fall, when it launches for the XBOX 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
