Though most of the attention at D23 this weekend is directed towards Marvel and Lucasfilm, and understandably so, Disney proper also has a few exciting films that they’ve been showcasing, such as 2017’s Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.
Considering that the film has already wrapped shooting, we should be seeing some footage quite soon. Until then, though, we’ll have to make do with what little information was revealed to us this weekend.
For one, it was confirmed that Orlando Bloom will be back to reprise his role as Will Turner, which was expected. He’ll be joined by Johnny Depp, of course, as well as returning cast members Geoffrey Rush, Kevin R. McNally and Stephen Graham. In terms of fresh faces, we’ll have Javier Bardem as Captain Salazar, Brenton Thwaites, Kaya Scodelario, David Wenham and Golshifteh Farahani.
In addition to Bloom’s confirmation, we also got the first logo for the film, which can be seen below. It’s nothing particularly exciting, but hopefully it signals that the marketing campaign is now underway and there will be a lot more to come in the near future.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales sails into theatres on July 7th, 2017. Are you looking forward to seeing the franchise return, or should it have ended a long time ago? Sound off below and let us know.
