Casting is heating up on Marvel’s upcoming Netflix series Luke Cage, and today, Deadline has learnt that the studio has recruited Alfre Woodard to star opposite Mike Colter. The actress will play a character named Minetta, who’s described as “a powerful woman in local politics who will have an impact on Luke Cage’s life.”

While that’s not very much to go on, Deadline believes that Minetta is actually the Marvel villain Black Mariah, a “professional criminal and drug dealer.” That hasn’t been confirmed yet, though, and at this point, is just speculation. Regardless, Woodard is a solid actress with an impressive body of work. No matter which role she steps into, she’ll no doubt be a great addition to the cast.

Luke Cage will arrive on Netflix in 2016. When we get an exact premiere date, and further details on Woodard’s casting, we’ll be sure to let you know.
