Keanu Reeves is held up as one of the nicest actors in Hollywood – and that makes him the perfect fit for Eli Roth’s new domestic horror, Knock Knock.
Stepping into the fuzzy slippers of a loving father and husband, Reeves is on board to play Evan Webber, a devoted architect who stays at home one weekend to focus on his craft while his family enjoy a brief holiday without him. One night, though, Evan’s life is effectively upended when two impossibly attractive young women seek shelter in his home. Lost and without a phone signal, Reeves’ protagonist allows them into his family home, leading to a passionate affair and a series of consequences that cement Genesis (Lorenza Izzo) and Bel’s (Ana de Armas) status as bona fide femme fatales.
A home invasion movie with a modern twist, Knock Knock seems to lay out the promiscuous thrills earlier before rolling out the psychological horror, with the two young, demented women targeting Evan’s idealistic family and threatening to upend his life as he knows it. It’s an over-the-top concept that would threaten to fall apart upon closer inspection, but we’re willing to give the director’s latest a whirl purely for Keanu Reeves’ involvement. Ignacia Allamand, Aaron Burns and Colleen Camp also star.
