Zeds Dead Go Back To Their Roots With One Time

Canadian dubstep duo Zeds Dead made a brief, regrettable departure from the saw waves and deep bass frequencies that solidified them as one of the scene's greats several years ago, but their latest material sees them return to their iconic sound. Canadian dubstep duo Zeds Dead made a brief, regrettable departure from the saw waves and deep bass frequencies that solidified them as one of the scene’s greats several years ago, but their latest material sees them return to their iconic sound. This week, the duo has released “One Time,” an instant trap classic with verses by American rapper Murs, alongside a handful of other announcements.

And indeed, “One Time” captures the mystique of yesteryear’s dubstep anthems despite following the format of more recent trap songs. Murs’ lurid verses make the track sparkle with suggestive imagery while effervescent synths build up to an incendiary drop. The duo clearly pulled out all the stops while putting together this arrangement, which hails back to an era during which massive bass drops ruled the festival circuit.

In addition to the new song, Zeds Dead have also announced the 2 Night Stand tour, which features a series of gigs from October to December, as well as a debut album in the works.

“We wanted to go back to our roots with this one, away from the festival stages and big rooms, into the same rooms that rock and rolls greats came up in,” read a statement issued by the duo.
