The Merc With A Mouth Enjoys Some Bonding Time In New Deadpool Image

Ardent fans clamoring for more of all things Deadpool may have been left frustrated during the film's radio silence post-Comic-Con, but it was perhaps for the best that 20th Century Fox eased the brakes onto the R-rated adaptation, not only giving the high-profile room to breathe, but allowing moviegoers to slowly collect their thoughts after the film's boisterous trailer broke through the Internet's fourth wall without batting an eyelid.

Fear no more, though, for Ryan Reynolds – ever the one to indulge in the character’s more playful side – has taken to Twitter to showcase a new still from Tim Miller’s live-action film.

Featuring Reynolds’ Merc with a Mouth attempting to strike up a friendship with the irreverent Negasonic Teenage Warhead (Brianna Hildebrand), the image is a fair depiction of the pair’s fraught relationship, and we can hardly wait to see it play out on the big screen in full.

Deadpool‘s means of bonding are, as you would imagine, rather unconventional, spouting lines from a Judy Blume children’s novel as a means of breaking the ice. Disinterested, Hildebrand’s character gazes off into the distance.

Reynolds and Hildebrand are by no means the only two superpowered characters in Miller’s film, though based on their conflicting personalities, they hold all the quirks to become one of the more bizarre on-screen duos in some time.

Tim Miller’s no-holds-barred rendition of the famed mercenary will finally have its time in the sun when Deadpool is dragged kicking and screaming into theaters on February 12.

Deadpool tells the origin story of former Special Forces operative turned mercenary Wade Wilson, who after being subjected to a rogue experiment that leaves him with accelerated healing powers, adopts the alter ego Deadpool. Armed with his new abilities and a dark, twisted sense of humor, Deadpool hunts down the man who nearly destroyed his life.
