2014 was the year of ZHU. “Faded” commandeered the world’s airwaves and secured a Grammy nomination, while ZHU’s mysterious persona enamored the masses. Now, it’s a shrouded project that’s caught our attention for 2015.

Hosted under www.generationwhy.com, ZHU’s ‘Genesis Series’ is a tantalizing secret. Upon visiting the site, fans are met with a simple interface prompting an email address, with a display keeping tally of sign-ups (I happened to be #7104).

Even though anyone can register for the ‘Genesis Series’ and who-knows-what, there’s still an air of exclusivity about the whole thing. Everyone developed theories on what it all could mean and when we could expect more information, but apparently the registrations were the key after all. After every email entry, a sliver of the site’s cryptic crossword was revealed, and now, the puzzle is complete.

Revealing an impressive list of artists, it seems the ‘Genesis Series’ is shaping into a music project. AlunaGeorge, Bone Thugs N Harmony (I know!), Skrillex, A-Trak, and more are amongst the listed names, but for what, we can only assume.

It’s certainly a heavy list of collaborators, and enough to justify an album of some sort. However, with the listed artists being so varied, I’d venture to say the final product will be a drip-stream of content, centering around a common theme or call-to-action.

Regardless, we’ll just have to wait and see what what ZHU is really up to.
