While shooting may already be underway, the cast of Legends of Tomorrow continues to grow, and the latest addition is Peter Francis James (The Losers) as Dr. Aldus Boardman.

The name may not be familiar, but the character is set to take on a pivotal role in the spinoff series and will first appear in the Arrow crossover episode which will also introduce Hawkman and Hawkgirl.

According to the official description, Boardman is a Classics professor at St. Roch University, who has devoted his life to researching the story of Chayara (Hawkgirl) and Prince Khufu (Hawkman) and their link to Vandal Savage.

Professor Boardman is the team’s only hope of finding Vandal and destroying him, so they can return home. However, when the Legends of Tomorow learn a secret about Boardman, they insist on making him a part of their journey, only to learn the kind of sacrifice it will take to save the world.

It’s worth noting that this isn’t a character from the comic books, but St. Roch University is. There’s clearly going to be some some sort of twist though based on the description put out by The CW, so his ties to the source material may be revealed further down the line.
