New Men In Black Trilogy Being Planned Without Will Smith

When we last heard about plans for the Men In Black franchise, it was rumoured that it would be crossing over with the Jump Street franchise in what sounded like a movie which would be tremendous fun. Unfortunately, we’ve heard nothing about that since then, and that no doubt has something to do with the fact that Phil Lord and Chris Miller are so damn busy.

Among their current and upcoming projects that the duo is either writing, directing, or producing are The LEGO Movie 2, an animated Spider-Man spinoff, The Flash, and a Star Wars Anthology focusing on a young Han Solo.

Regardless, producers Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald have confirmed that a revival of the Men in Black franchise is indeed in the works at Sony, but Will Smith has not factored into discussions (like the new Independence Day movie, it seems likely that they’ll be forging ahead without him).

“We’re in the middle of it. It’s very active,” Parkes revealed, with MacDonald adding: “It will be reinvented as a trilogy.”

It remains to be seen whether or not the Jump Street characters played by Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill will factor into this new Men In Black trilogy, but that feels like the best possible direction for the somewhat stale franchise to go in at this point.

What do you think? Would you like to see a new Men In Black trilogy without Smith?
