A community post through the series’ official site has today confirmed that Call Of Duty: Black Ops 3 will not feature its campaign mode for previous generation consoles. The post cites that a technological disparity was the reason for its exclusion from these versions of the game, saying;

The Black Ops 3 PS3 and Xbox 360 versions will feature Multiplayer and Zombies gameplay only, not Campaign. The ambitious scope of the 1-4 player co-op Campaign design of the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions could not be faithfully recreated on old generation hardware.

While this will obviously be a disappointment to fans of the series who are yet to upgrade their consoles, the fact that they will be able to enjoy at least some of their favourite Call Of Duty content will be some consolation. The post goes on to explain that these lighter versions of the game will be bolstered by an additional download code for the original Black Ops title, and will be available at a reduced recommended price.

What do you think of the news, Call Of Duty fans? Does the fact that the Black Ops 3‘s new campaign is too technologically taxing for older systems excite you? Or is the fact that they’re cramming an watered-down version onto older consoles seem like the developers may have been stretching themselves too thin?

We’ll have to wait until November to find out…
