A new behind-the-scenes snap from the set of what is supposedly the last film in the Resident Evil franchise, Resident Evil: The Final Chapter, gives us a look at the movie’s leading ladies back together again.

Milla Jovovich will once again reprise the role of Alice, who will return to Raccoon City to battle the forces of darkness one last time. She’ll be joined by Ali Larter as Claire Redfield, who hasn’t been seen since 2010’s Resident Evil: Afterlife.

The movies that the incredibly popular Resident Evil video games spawned have not been quite so successful… at least, not critically. But despite many fans viewing these flicks as little more than a joke, it’s hard to argue with their box office takings – which is the main reason The Final Chapter will be the sixth instalment in the franchise.

For more, check out the plot summary below:

Picking up immediately after the events in Resident Evil: Retribution, humanity is on its last legs after Alice is betrayed by Wesker in Washington D.C. As the only survivor of what was meant to be humanity’s final stand against the undead hordes, Alice must return to where the nightmare began – Raccoon City, where the Umbrella Corporation is gathering its forces for a final strike against the only remaining survivors of the apocalypse. In a race against time Alice will join forces with old friends, and an unlikely ally, in an action packed battle with undead hordes and new mutant monsters. Between losing her superhuman abilities and Umbrella’s impending attack, this will be Alice’s most difficult adventure as she fights to save humanity, which is on the brink of oblivion.

Whether you’re normally a fan of these movies or not, it might be worth catching Resident Evil: The Final Chapter if only to find out what manner of craziness they’re going to throw at the screen this one last time. You can bet that things will get pretty wild when it releases on January 27th, 2017.

These badass ladies be back! On set with @therealalil. #aliceandclaire #residentevilmovie #capetowndiary
