Flight Of The Conchords Director In Talks To Helm Thor: Ragnarok For Marvel

While there were rumours that Kenneth Branagh might return to the Thor franchise for Thor: Ragnaork, he's hard at work on Artemis Fowl and denied those reports some time ago. While there were rumours that Kenneth Branagh might return to the Thor franchise for Thor: Ragnaork, he’s hard at work on Artemis Fowl and denied those reports some time ago. Alan Taylor, meanwhile, didn’t seem to enjoy his Marvel experience all that much, so the chances of him coming back always seemed somewhere between slim and none.

The search for a new director has been underway for the past few months and today, it’s been revealed that Flight of the Conchords and What We Do in the Shadows helmer Taika Waititi is in negotiations to take the helm of Thor: Ragnarok. He apparently beat Ruben Fleischer (Gangster Squad) for the job, and it sounds like the deal is pretty near to closing at this stage.

Unfortunately, very little is known about what we should expect from Thor: Ragnarok. Chris Hemsworth will obviously be reprising the role of the God of Thunder, but Tom Hiddleston recently admitted to being unsure about returning as Loki in a recent interview. Regardless, this is expected to be one of Phase 3’s biggest movies, as it should help set the stage for the two-part Avengers: Infinity War.

Tell us, how do you feel about this choice of director for Thor: Ragnarok? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the comments section.
