Expect A Lot More Transformers Movies Over The Next Ten Years

If you're not a fan of the Transformers movies, then you may want to turn away now! While we already know that Transformers 5 is on the way (likely with Michael Bay at the helm) and an animated spinoff set on Cybertron is in the works, Hasbro Studios president Stephen J. If you’re not a fan of the Transformers movies, then you may want to turn away now.

While we already know that Transformers 5 is on the way (likely with Michael Bay at the helm) and an animated spinoff set on Cybertron is in the works, Hasbro Studios president Stephen J. Davis has revealed that we should get set for a lot more than that.

Talking at MIP Junior in Cannes recently, he broke down the plans for the studio as follows:

“Well, you’re gonna see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners. In fact, we just finished, which some of you may have read, just an incredible experience. We decided that we wanted to plot out the next 10 years of the Transformers franchise and so we got together in a room over a three-month period of time. Nine of some of the most creative writers I have ever worked with, shepherded by Akiva Goldsman, who many of you may know won an Academy Award for A Beautiful Mind and written a bunch of really great movies, and they plotted out the next 10 years of Transformers. Similarly, we’re doing the same in television and in digital. So stay tuned, Transformers 5 is on its way, and 6 and 7 and 8.”

These sound like very big plans, and while we would normally caution a wait and see approach, the fact that the fourth Transformers movie grossed over $1 billion is a good sign that the franchise is showing no signs of slowing down, so most of these will no doubt come to fruition.

The fact is, what critics think of these movies really doesn’t seem to matter, as moviegoers love them and continue paying to see them. When we’ll get official titles and release dates for all these Transformers movies remains to be seen, but let us know your thoughts on the future of this franchise in the comments section below.
