USA Network’s werewolf drama series has found its lead, as Boardwalk Empire alum Stephan Graham has signed on to play John Crean in the small-screen adaptation of IDW Publishing comic series, Brooklyn Animal Control.

The comic was created by J.T. Petty and focuses on the trials and tribulations of a group of officers assigned to a highly secret subdivision of the NYPD that functions as social services for the city’s lycanthropic citizens. One such officer is Graham’s John Crean, who is well acquainted with the small group of werewolves, and according to Deadline he’ll play “cop, counselor and diplomat” for them. The site adds: “When backed against a wall, he will buck tradition and risk everything to protect his miscreant son.”

Graham is a British actor best known Stateside for his turn as Al Capone in HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, but he has also had memorable roles in several other movie and TV projects. Most recently he finished up his long stint as Combo on Channel 4’s final season of the excellent This Is England.

Game Of Thrones director Brian Kirk will helm the pilot of Brooklyn Animal Control and will also executive produce alongside David S. Goyer. No word on when the series is set to air, but we’ll let you know when we hear more.
